Hublot Classic Fusion and Big Bang: Which One Suits You Best?

The story of Hublot began in 1976 with the excellent management of its owner, Carlo Crocco. It may have caused some hesitance from the watch community for its young age when it entered the Baselword in 1980, but look where it is now. Slowly, the people turn to it as a watch that defines innovation and high quality.

Its vision, Art of Fusion, emphasized the company’s aim of producing timepieces with the combination of two different materials and eventually came up with an excellent result. Sturdy and unique, these are the characters that built Hublot watches. Today, we’ll give you the features of its two primary models - the Classic Fusion and Big Bang. From here, you decide which one you prefer to suit your wrist.

Hublot Classic Fusion and Big Bang: Which One Suits You Best?

Hublot Classic Fusion and Big Bang: Which One Suits You Best?

The word Hublot is a French word for a porthole, which is very evident with the designs of this famous brand and looks like a submarine hatch. One of those Hublot Watches is the Classic Fusion that simply lives to its name. The face of the dial is clear and free of too much typography and other elements that you can see in the Big Bang collection.

    • Components

From the word Fusion, Hublot mixes materials and other components to bring about unique watches. It is what Hublot is known for, creating extraordinary timepieces that other brands couldn’t copy. Some of these materials are the Hublonium, which is the combination of magnesium and aluminum; the Magic Gold referring to the 18k scratchproof gold; and the King Gold, the fusion of gold and platinum.

    • Dial

Classic Fusion showcases dials that apply beveled indices and hour markers or diamond hour markers. In addition, it is the brushed finishing of the bezel ring and polished bezel screws, crown, and sides of the case. Though most of the Hublot’s dials are sunray-finished, it always finds a way to develop a unique design with its experiments. That includes the use of fabric patterns and carbon fiber patterns.

    • Bezel

The bezel rings have a brushed finish, pinned with 6 H-style screws located at the 12, 2, 4, 6, 8, and 10 o’clock positions. There’s another version that looks more elegant, which is the diamond-studded bezel rings. The previous models have two rows of diamonds, but it took a change at present with only one row of diamonds to showcase. However, there are quite a few that still carry double rows of that gemstone.

    • Movements

Classic Fusion series runs in different movements such as mechanical ones, including hand-wound calibers and automatic calibers. Another version is in quartz calibers or watches run by batteries. The base movement uses ETA, high-quality movements which provide ébauche calibers that other luxury brands are using.

    • Price

The quartz collection usually has an initial price of $5,200 and may extend to $30,500 for the solid gold ones. On the other hand, the automatic watches start at $6,200 and could reach a 6-figure price for complex designs and mechanisms.

    • Case

These watches are available both for men and women, even with those medium-sized wrists. There are ultra-thin or more prominent cases available that start at 33mm up to 45mm to accommodate larger wrists.

    Hublot Big Bang

Hublot Big Bang has a smaller collection compared to the Classic Fusion edition. This series is bolder and aims to wow the watch fans out there through its intricate designs and eventually became a head-turner. But of course, it’s not surprising that such an exquisite timepiece incurs a high price for in-depth research and production.

    • Components

Big Bang lives through Hublot’s vision of combining materials to get a fantastic outcome, so we could tell that this collection is a highly extraordinary watch. One good example is the unique design of denim fabric that Hublot used for the strap and dial for a particular model. Added to it are the 18k rose gold case, diamond hour markers, and diamond bezel. Just like Classic Fusion, it also uses King Gold, Magic Gold. Titanium and ceramic.

    • Dial

You will notice that Big Bang has color variations and impressive designs when it comes to dials. There’s only one feature that is left constant with each piece, the luminous hour markers. The collection’s hour markers can be indices or combined index and Arabic numerals hour markers. Another feature that sets it apart from the Classic Fusion is the minutes and seconds track inside the dial.

    • Movements

There are two collections here that use different movements, Big Bang and Big Bang UNICO. Big Bang UNICO uses either caliber with a stopwatch feature (chronograph) or second-time zone (GMT). It incorporates the company’s in-house mechanical movement, all in! However, the Big Bang collection may use in-house or other base movements, and some even use quartz caliber for specific models.

    • Price

The Big Bang quartz series initially starts at $10,400 and could go up to $29,400 for diamond-studded models. Looking at the automatic models, of course, you already have an idea how much it would be—starting at $11,500 up to a 6-figure price range.

    • Case

With most watches having case diameters between 38mm and above, it’s reasonable to assume the case size of the Big Bang to be on the larger end of the spectrum. The reason, Big Bang is a more outrageous and non-traditional collection with a less predictable and straightforward design.

    The Takeaway

Either of the two models, Big Bang or Classic Fusion, there’s no doubt that each of them is an excellent choice for a timepiece. The quality has proved to be of high performance with the movements incorporated in the watches. It’s not every day that there’s a brand that leaps experimenting with different materials to produce one-of-a-kind clocks.

True to its word, Hublot emphasizes the fusion of quality components to deliver the best. Have you decided which one to choose?
