    How To Stay Connected With People While Taking a Break From Technology

    Disconnecting from technology for some time can be relieving. It helps us focus just on the things that matter, which is indeed a relaxing way to clear the mind. When our attention is not diverted on the trivialities of the people we follow, what others are doing, or what they think about the photo you uploaded 2 hours ago, we are able to give more of ourselves to the world.

    Although beneficial, there is a conflict that may occur upon unplugging from the digital world. Since you decided to disconnect, how will people reach out to you? It may seem difficult, but it is possible to do. There are ways to stay engaged while on a digital detox.

    How To Stay Connected With People While Taking a Break From Technology

    1.  Go out and meet up:

    Hang out with people that matter. It could be your family, close friends, or even the people you have not spoken to in a while. Go out to parties and meet new people. Take time to socialize without the need of gadgets. If you are not comfortable with it, then call people in your small circle and invite them over for a sweet catch-up and conversation. It’s about time to have meaningful interactions and build new relationships.

    2.  Join an organization:

    Be pro-active. This might be a good time to join a non-profit organization, try out for a dance team, or enroll yourself in a fitness class. There are a lot of groups out there that serve a better purpose or help you use and enhance your skills and talents. You might even surprise yourself with the impact you can make for yourself and the community.

    3.  Go on a trip:

    The purpose of disconnecting from technology for a while is not just so you can connect with others face-to-face, but also to help you find yourself more. Go and schedule a solo trip. It doesn’t have to be far, but you must achieve something out of it. May it be staying in a private beach resort or hitting the road for a road trip, it will help you relax and find inner peace.

    4.  Read newspapers, magazines, books, etc:

    You may have forgotten that you can actually read articles offline. Brush up on your favorite authors and your magazine and newspaper subscription. Stay updated without the need of internet.

    5.  Keep your lines open:

    Going offline for some time does not necessarily mean completely ignoring your gadgets, especially your phone. Keep your lines open so your contacts can still reach you, especially with work-related stuff.
