The wisdom teeth happen to be the third and last molars on every side of the upper and lower muscles. They also are the last teeth to emerge.  When a person is in the early fifteens or early twenties these teeth emerge.

When you are suffering from wisdom tooth pain, most people will tell you to see the dentist and that is also the best thing to do. But that is not always possible. You may have work or family commitments and sometimes even your dentist may not be able to provide you with an appointment.

So if you are experiencing excruciating pain and are not able to get your appointment with the dentist immediately, here are some home remedies for wisdom toothache that can provide relief from your wisdom tooth pain.

Top 6 Home Remedies for Wisdom Toothache?

    1.  Oil Pulling with Coconut Oil:

The oil pulling is a great way to reduce the swelling and inflammation of the gums. The coconut oil comes with the analgesic and antimicrobial properties that can protect the mouth and the teeth from oral infections and control the wisdom tooth pain. For this, you need to swish 1 teaspoon of coconut oil in your mouth for 15-20 minutes. After spitting it out, you must rinse the mouth with lukewarm water. Try to do this daily preferably in the morning prior to brushing the teeth.

    2.  Warm Salt Water Rinse:

This is recommended by the dentists themselves as the stop gap until an appointment. Not only it is one of the most effective ways to achieve relief from wisdom tooth pain but also it is one of the simplest one. Take 8 ounces of warm water and stir it with two tablespoons of salt until the salt is dissolved completely. Rinse with the water for several minutes, or for as long as you can stand the salty taste and then spit it out. You repeat the process every few hours and you will experience pain relief.

    3.  Cloves and Clove Oil:

In order to reduce toothaches and wisdom tooth pain naturally, cloves and clove oil are magical home remedies. The best part is that most households already have good cloves in their kitchen.  You should take the whole clove without crushing it or cutting it and place it on the area of most irritation. Keep the clove in the mouth until you experience a numbing sensation. You can also use clove oil in this case. For this, just dab the swab or cotton ball in the clove oil and brush it in over the gums.

    4.  Peanut Butter:

The peanut butter is made of roasted peanuts. This consists of the analgesic and anti-inflammatory properties because of the presence of a compound known as resveratrol. Hence peanut butter can be used to treat wisdom tooth pain and its symptoms. For this you should take a little peanut butter on your finger and apply it directly on the area that is affected. You must do this, multiple times, everyday because the saliva in the mouth will keep clearing it out.

    5.  Onion:

This is one remedy that can sound the strangest and can be the most reliable one. Onions have already proven to be quite effective to relive inflammation and pain related to arthritis. The onion consists of the phytochemicals that target the germs responsible for the infection and help you to get some relief from the pain. The one thing that can deter people from this home remedy is that you need to chew a raw onion. In fact, the more pungent the onion the better the relief.  The sweet onion will work but the yellow or red ones are the best for this.  Whenever you start to feel pain, cut an onion and place it on the side of the mouth with the pain. This way the juice of onion penetrates the mouth. If the pain happens to be too much for you can use your finger for holding the onion directly against the problematic gum and tooth.

    6.  Peppermint Essential Oil:

The peppermint oil consists of menthol as a compound that contains anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties which can help soothe and relieve the wisdom tooth pain.  For this, you need 1 teaspoon of peppermint oil and 1 teaspoon of coconut oil. Mix the two and apply the mixture with your finger on the area that is affected. Then massage for 4-5 minutes. After that rinse with lukewarm water. You should do this 1-2 times daily.

The above are some of the major home remedies that can help you get some relief from your wisdom tooth pain temporarily before you manage to get an appointment with the best dentist who will detect the real problem and ensure that you don’t experience any discomfort because of wisdom tooth anymore.
