Problems Faced by Modern Higher Education

Higher education is considered important by over 80 percent of people. It is not surprising that the number of students who desire to get degrees grows as well as the number of problems faced by educational institutions. An increase in the number of students leads to the appearance of numerous private colleges and paper writing companies. As a result, more reputable universities have to cope with multiple problems that appear on a regular basis. Apart from students’ obsession with online writing help, there are many other difficulties faced by higher education.

Problems Faced by Modern Higher Education

    1.  The main goal of universities and colleges is not education anymore:

The modern world of higher education reminds a huge market where every institution puts effort to sell itself for a bigger price. It is rather prestigious to get a degree of renowned universities and colleges so these institutions take advantage of that. It seems that students do everything on the campus except for studying. The quality of knowledge provided has fallen down significantly. In addition, money received by colleges as tuition fees are spent for everything including infrastructure, sports, facilities, scholarship except for innovative learning materials, modern classrooms and professional development of the teaching staff.

Solution: Teachers still feel responsible for their work and do their best to provide students with the important knowledge, so their efforts should be supported by the implementation of digital platforms that allow teachers to communicate and manage the learning process. MOOCs and LMS are some of them.

    2.  Long years of studying for a degree cost a fortune:

Modern universities make all the students equal assigning them courses of general education requirement and ones referred to the major specialty. However, the learning pace varies depending on the person and why should one pay huge money for the first two years when he has to learn an extended list of high school subjects again? Students have to take huge loans that are later returned for years to complete their degrees. Reach at manufacturing engineer degree.

Solution: A curriculum should meet the requirements for the amount of knowledge and skills a student should have to be called a qualified specialist. It should also contain a number of elective courses to be completed. In addition, students should be provided with an opportunity to learn in the virtual classrooms at their own pace and be able to decrease the time period of studying if they wish and manage to do that.

    3.  A linear learning model is getting old:

Lectures, classes, a stable curriculum will soon be an outdated form of studying. Today, university education is centered on teachers who control the learning process and this approach is not only effective but also very expensive. Universities have to pay salaries to a huge number of teaching staff, facilities, utilities etc when all the learning can be restricted to a couple of technological devices. In addition, none of the students’ interests and preferences are considered in the modern education approach, so why do teachers get surprised that students look for the assistance of any writing service?

Solution: Higher education should be student-centered. Students should be given an opportunity to direct their learning themselves and if they need help, for example, with thesis writing, choose an instructor instead of being assigned to anyone. It will encourage teachers to grow professionally and is a more cost-effective way of learning. Teachers will not have to visit classrooms and read long and dull lectures. Their main task is to provide help and that can be easily done online.
